Top 50 Companies in the Russian Workwear and PPE Market in 2020

Getsiz.ru presents a regular rating of the largest workwear and PPE companies on the Russian market. The list was compiled on the basis of Rosstat data on the companies’ revenue for 2019 and information provided by the companies themselves.

The list includes manufacturers and distributors of workwear, safety footwear, personal protective equipment and service companies. The report does not take into account a number of large manufacturers, such as 3M, Honeywell and BTC Group, due to the lack of information on the share of PPE in their sales’ volumes. Besides the top 50 does not include trading companies supplying state-owned companies with PPE. The revenues of the companies who sell both their own products and products of other manufacturers include results of both types of sales.

The total revenue of the top-50 rating participants increased over a year by 6,4% from 91,87 billion rubles (1.081 billion €) in 2018 to 97.73 billion rubles (1.149 billion €) in 2019. It means that the growth rate has slowed down by half compared to the previous year.

The first six positions of the list are occupied by the same companies as a year ago: the first place is taken by «Vostok-Service-Spetskomplekt» AO with the revenue of 21.32 billion rubles (250.824 million €) (+7.5% compared to 2018). The second place belongs to «Firma «Technoavia» PV OOO with 16.72 billion rubles (196.705 million €) (+8.1%). In the third place is «Energokontract» GC with 6.970 billion rubles (82 million €) (+2.9%). Then follow: “Tract” GC with 4.53 billion rubles (53.294 million €) (+9.3%), “Spetsobedinenie Yugo-Zapad” OOO with 3.25 billion rubles (38.235 million €) (+7%) and “Planeta-Sirius” OOO with 3.07 billion rubles (36.117 million €) (+2.2%).

The seventh place of the rating is occupied by «Combinat Rabochey Odezhdy” AO with the revenue of 2.6 billion rubles (30.588 million €) (+21.5%), which a year ago was ranked ninth. This manufacturer of workwear is the only regional company in the top ten, while the rest are located in Moscow and Moscow region.

“Zelinsky Group” GC with the revenue of 2.11 billion rubles (24.823 million €) (+0.36%) retained the eighth position in the rating. The ninth line of the list is occupied by the first newcomer in the top-10 group: «Ansell Rus» OOO with the revenue of 2.07 billion rubles (24.353 million €) (+32.7%), which was number 14 last year. Completing the top ten is another newcomer: “Avangard Safety” GC with 1.94 billion rubles (22.824 million €) (+20.3%), ranking 12th in the previous rating.

“Transinservice” OOO, which left the top 10, reduced its turnover by a record 55.8% to 1.16 billion rubles (18.824 million €) and lost 11 positions at once, dropping from seventh to 18th place. The most impressive growth in revenue – by 141.11%, to 1.2 billion rubles (14.118 million €) was shown by «Firm «Tchaikovsky Partner» OOO, which allowed the company to rise from 37th to 17th place.

The revenue of “Sever-Service-Complect” OOO, which grew by 77% in 2019, ensured the company’s rise in the rating from 36th to 21st place.

Five first-timers entered the top-50 list: “Soyuzspetsodezhda” OOO from Moscow, “Kimry factory named after Gorky” AO from the Tver region, “Spetsposhiv» OOO from the town of Lipetsk, Trading House «Fort» from St. Petersburg and «Ivanovo Textile Company» OOO from the town of Ivanovo.

In 2019 according to Getsiz.ru and PPE Association ASIZ the volume of the Russian PPE market amounted to 160 billion rubles (1.882 billion €). A year earlier the volume was 155 billion rubles.

We would like to point out that this top 50 list is based on pre-pandemic data. In 2020, COVID-19 had a major impact on the economy, causing one of the most dramatic slumps in history. The PPE industry is considered to be the least affected by the pandemic due to the huge spike in demand for PPE, but it also had to change significantly to meet the new challenges.
